TiTe's officer positions

What is an officer?

The officers of the Tampereen TietoTeekkarikilta, known as toimarit, work together with TiTe’s board. The difference compared to the actual board is not significant, nor is it very noticeable in day-to-day activities. At the general meeting, the guild elects a chair candidate, who in turn proposes the guild’s board. After the turn of the year, this board selects the officials based on applications and interviews.

There are many different types of official positions, and they are not set in stone — you can even propose a new position! Being an officer is an easy way to experience how the guild operates behind the scenes and to contribute your part. The workload varies slightly between roles, and some positions can also be combined. There are no prerequisites — enthusiasm is a bonus — but attitude is what matters most!

Host's / Hostess' helper

The duties of the Host/Hostess include taking care of the arrangements for the guild’s sauna evenings. Other responsibilities include, for example, organizing the guild’s summer gathering and handling the coffee and doughnut service at general meetings. For sauna evenings, the Teekkarisauna Mörrimöykky is usually reserved. Once on site, the host/hostess ensures that the sauna and hot tub are warm and that there is enough refreshments for everyone. TiTe has several sauna events each year, and the host’s workload is concentrated around these events and the evenings may be long.

Alumni officer

The Alumni officer plans and carries out activities for TiTe members who have already graduated or are about to graduate, together with TiTe’s alumni association, TiTTu. So you don’t have to handle alumni matters alone anymore but do it as a team! The Alumni officer serves as a bridge between the guild’s students and its alumni. The most important thing in this role is an interest in the alumni community and its activities!

System administrator

Keeps up TiTe´s information systems and leads a IT-commitee.

System administrator officer

System administrator officer helps guild's system administrator in keeping up and updating TiTe's information systems.

Fuksi captain

The Fuksi captains are responsible for TiTe’s freshman initiation program and, together with the Ubertutor, organize all kinds of fun activities for the freshmen throughout their first year. The freshman year begins with the orientation week organized by the Fuksi Team and ends with the welcoming sauna they also arrange! The year includes plenty of other activities as well, such as info sessions, sitsit, XQ trips, checkpoint crawls, sports trials, and the fuksi oath.

Another part of the Freshman Coordinator’s role is being part of the Fuksi Council (Fuksineuvosto), which consists of the fuksi captains from all guilds, and also being part of Hovi, which includes the fuksi captains and the tutor coordinators from the city centre campus. The Fuksi Council also holds meetings where the largest freshman events on campus are planned, such as the Shrovetide Festival (Laskiaisrieha), the City Tour (Kiertoajelu), Fuksisitsit, and Fuksikyykkä.

There is plenty to do outside these events as well, such as advising fuksis and stamping fuksipasses. Events never have to be organized alone, it is highly encouraged and lots of fun to come up with activities together with other guilds and student associations!

The Fuksi captains are selected only after Wappu, in May. Fuksi captain role requires fluent Finnish.

International Fuksi captain

The International Fuksi captain is part of the Fuksi Team. The main responsibility of the IFC is to ensure that international students receive the same amount of information about events and to take charge of activating and training international tutors. The IFC enjoys the same benefits as the national Fuksi Captain and they are included in the Fuksi Council and get to stamp fuksipasses! In addition, the IFC is part of the International Fuksi Council, where shared international events can be coordinated easily. Proficiency in English is highly recommended!

The International Freshman captain is selected at the same time as the other Freshman Coordinators, in May. IFC requires fluent Finnish.

Assistant Event Coordinator

The Assistant Event Coordinator supports the Event Coordinator by working actively as a team. The assistant also co-leads the event committee together with the Event Coordinator.

As the Assistant Event Coordinator, you get to help organize various TiTe events. These include many different sitsit, such as Pre-Colours Sitsit, Black-Overall Sitsit, and Raffle Sitsit, as well as the hottest party of the autumn — Senssibileet! In addition to these, you also have the opportunity to develop the guild’s event activities and create any kind of event you want.

If you’ve always been interested in planning and organizing the best events in the world, this role is for you!

Graphic designer

Graphic designer is responsible for doing all kinds of graphics for TiTe! Th graphic designer works together with many other board members, and for example makes event posters, helps with Nibble and IT-Hekuma graphics and layout. The graphic designer is a part of the media committee.

Graphic designer should have some experience in creating graphics and some visual eye, but all will be taught and you'll learn a lot by doing! TiTe offers the software needed.

Guild master

The Guild Master is responsible for maintaining and developing TiTe’s guild room. The Guild Master handles, for example, ordering snacks, coffee, and supplies for the guild room, as well as maintaining and improving the furnishings and overall atmosphere. The Guild Master helps keep the guild clean and pleasant together with the entire board. This role is particularly important for ensuring member comfort!

TEK Officer

The TEK Officer (kiltayhdyshenkilö, KYH) has a very simple job. Get to know TEK, organize freshman recruitment, and write articles for Nibble. The KYH should be somewhat sales-oriented, genuinely interested in TEK, and not too nervous about public speaking. The TEK officer role is easy to combine with another position.

Sports Officer

The Sports officer's duties in TiTe include organizing sports events such as kyykkä qualifiers and various sports tryouts. In addition, you have the opportunity to create all kinds of sports-related events that you can come up with!

The Sports Officer's task is to encourage TiTe members to be active and to keep TiTe’s regular sports sessions—floorball at Bommari and ball games at Tamppi Arena running.

The Sports Officer also becomes part of TUrVoKe sports committee consisting of all guilds’ sports officers. The committee brainstorms and organizes events such as the Wappu Warm-Up and the autumn Kilometer Competition. In previous years, the sports committee has also organized events like an inter-guild baseball tournament and track and field competitions.

Song Master

The song master primarily acts as the song leader during sitsit, but also leads the singing whenever needed. At a sitsis, one can “salt” songs to the song master, and they should be able to skillfully lead at least the songs on the program. Additionally, situational awareness is required to know when to loudly shout “SKÅL!” at inappropriate or excessively long additional verses.

The song master also naturally sings rather than well, and knowledge of Rasputin songs is helpful in this post.

Editor-in-chief

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for our guild’s own magazine, Nibble. Nibble is published about three times a year, so the Editor-in-Chief’s workload is concentrated in the periods leading up to publication. The Editor-in-Chief is supported by the Nibble Committee, whose members brainstorm article ideas. The board, guild members, and the committee write the articles for the magazine. The Editor-in-Chief compiles the magazine into a coherent whole and delivers it to the graphic designer for layout or lays out the magazine themselves.

Assistant treasurer

More familiarly known as rapu. The Assistant Treasurer manages the guild’s cash registers, both in the guild room and at events where sales occur. The role also involves checking event payments and reminding people about unpaid fees.

The Treasurer’s Assistant helps lead the investment committee together with the Treasurer and also represents the guild in the finance committee alongside the Treasurer. The position provides a wide range of experience in trusted roles and in managing the guild’s financial matters.

During the term, the Assistant is also trained in the Treasurer’s duties, making this an excellent stepping stone toward becoming the Treasurer the following year — though without any obligation to commit to continuing.
