====== TiTe's Decoration Guidelines ====== Please note that these rules are provided in English only for convenience. The official version of these rules is the Finnish one. These rules (in Finnish) have been accepted at TiTe’s general meeting on 15.11.2023. ===== 1. The guild’s logo and emblem ===== TiTe’s official logo consists of: * The gear from the logo of Tampere University of Technology, coloured grey (hex code #C0C0C0) with a black border. * In the centre of the logo, the text “TiTe” in black, using the Cheltenham Bold font. The borders of the letters are white. * At the bottom of the gear, the text “TAMPERE” and at the top of the gear, the text “TIETOTEEKKARIKILTA”, both arced around the gear, in black, using the Swiss Bold font. Decorations ===== ==== 2.1 Chair's representative emblem ==== The representative emblem of TiTe’s chair is a 15mm gilded guild emblem, which is worn in the middle of the guild sash. No other guild decorations are worn with the emblem. The emblem is used at celebrations where academic decorations are worn. Chairs of the board retain the right to wear the chair’s emblem also once they have ceased being the sitting (i.e. current) chair. ==== 2.2 Board member’s representative emblem ==== The representative emblem of TiTe’s board members is a 15mm silver guild emblem, which is worn in the middle of the guild sash. No other guild decorations are worn with the emblem. The emblem is used at celebrations where academic decorations are worn. A board member only has the right to wear the representative emblem during their period as a member of the board. The guild’s officers (//toimihenkilöt// or //toimarit//) are also considered to be members of the guild’s board in this rule. ==== 2.3 Chair's representative pin ==== The representative pin of TiTe’s chair is a 10mm gilded pin in the shape of the guild’s emblem. The pin is worn with neat clothing on the left side of the chest. On a suit jacket, the pin is attached to the left lapel. Chairs of the board retain the right to wear the chair’s pin also once they have ceased being the sitting chair. ==== 2.4 Board member's representative pin ==== The representative pin of TiTe’s chair is a 10mm silver pin in the shape of the guild’s emblem. The pin is worn with neat clothing on the left side of the chest. On a suit jacket, the pin is attached to the left lapel. Board members retain the right to wear the board members’ pin also once they have stopped being members of the board. The guild’s officers are also considered to be members of the guild’s board in this rule. ==== 2.5 Emblem of honour ==== The guild’s emblem of honour is a 30mm gilded guild emblem, which is worn in the middle of the wide guild sash. The emblem of honour replaces all other decorations worn on the guild sash. The emblem is used at celebrations where academic decorations are worn. The emblem of honour is worn by the guild’s honourary members. According to the guild rules, a person who has “especially contributed to the guild’s activity or otherwise notably represented its interests” may be named an honourary member. New honourary members are awarded the emblem of honour at the guild’s anniversary celebration or at some other celebration. ==== 2.6 Emblem of merit ==== The guild’s emblem of merit is a 30mm silver guild emblem, which is worn in the middle of the wide guild sash. The emblem of merit can be awarded to a person who has actively advocated for the benefit of the guild’s activities or its members. The emblem is used at celebrations where academic decorations are worn. The emblem of merit is awarded at the guild’s anniversary celebration or at some other celebration. The emblem of merit is awarded by a special committee, which is called together by either the guild’s senior consultant (Wanha Kähmy) or another person named by the guild’s board. The members of the guild can make proposals for awarding of the emblem of merit. ===== 3. Guild sashes ===== The guild has two distinct sashes – the (regular) guild sash and the wide guild sash. The sashes are worn either at their full length from the right shoulder to the left hip, or as a rosette on the right side of the chest (on a suit jacket, the right lapel). Sashes are worn at celebrations where academic decorations are worn. Alongside the guild’s sash up to two other sashes can be worn, if the rules for those sashes allow it. Multiple sashes are worn in order of value, with the most valuable at the highest position. The sash and the wide sash are not worn at the same time. The guild sash is a 30mm wide sash, coloured black-silver-black in the ratio 1:1:1. The guild sash may be worn by all current and past members of the guild. The wide guild sash is a 60mm wise sash, coloured black-silver-black in the ratio 1:1:1. The wide guild sash may only be worn by people who have received the emblem of honour or the emblem of merit, and it is never used without the emblem attached to it. The guild sash may not be handed over to a person who does not have the right to wear it. ===== 4. The guild pennant ===== The guild pennant is a pennant with the guild’s logo on it. The guild pennant may be awarded upon decision of the board to a person or organization that does not belong to the guild, that has through its actions represented the guild’s interests. The pennant is awarded at the guild’s anniversary celebration or at some other celebration. The guild pennant is also awarded to the guild’s new honourary members. ===== 5. Flags ===== ==== 5.1 Official flag ==== The guild’s flag’s base colour is white. The flag features the emblem of the guild. === 5.1.1 Use of the official flag === The flag is used at the guild’s celebrations and honourary events. The flag may also be used at other events upon approval by the guild’s board. The flag is accompanied by a colour guard of two (2) guild members, if the flag is carried without a cover. The flag bearer and the flag guard must wear Tampere teekkari caps. === 5.1.2 Salutes === The flag is lowered to salute heads of states, the flag of Finland, the national anthem and the dead. The salute is performed by lowering the flag slowly to an angle of 45 degrees and raised up thereafter. === 5.1.3 Removing the flag from use === The guild’s flag is destroyed by drenching it in ethanol and burning it at midnight. Following the flag burning, //Ikuisen teekkarin laulu// is sung. ==== 5.2 War flag ==== The guild’s war flag’s base colour is white. The flag features the logo of the guild. === 5.2.1 Use of the war flag === The war flag is used for different purposes during war and peacetime. While the guild is at war, the flag is used to to raise guild members’ morale for forwarding the war efforts. During peacetime, the flag is used to gather members as well as to show the guild’s presence at events. === 5.2.2 Salutes === The flag is lowered to salute the sitting chairs of the board, as well as those lost in the battles of the guild. The salute is performed by lowering the flag slowly to an angle of 45 degrees and raised up thereafter. === 5.2.3 Removing the war flag from use === The war flag is destroyed by drenching it in cut cognac (//jaloviina//) and burning it while singing a marching song appropriate to the situation. ===== 6. TiTe member of the year ===== The title of TiTe member of the year can be awarded to a guild member who has in the past year best represented the spirit of TiTe, and encouraged other members to do the same. The members of the guild can make proposals for recipients of the title to the board. The board awards the title at the end of the academic year, at the guild’s anniversary celebration or at some other celebration. ===== 7. Ruffe award ===== The Ruffe Award is an acknowledgment that can be granted for an individual act, event, or idea that has significantly promoted the guild's status or the interests of its members. This honor can be awarded to an individual or organization. The award is granted by the guild's board and may be presented during the guild's anniversary celebrations or at some other celebration. ===== 8. Changing the rules ===== These rules may be changed at a general meeting with a ¾ majority of votes. ===== 9. Applicability of the rules ===== These rules will be enforced upon a decision by the general meeting on 15.11.2023, and they replace the rules accepted on 04.02.2020.
