====== Board Positions ====== TiTen’s day-to-day operations are managed by the guild’s board, which generally includes not only the regular board members but also the officers. However, the regular board members bear legal responsibility for the guild’s operations and have the right to vote in ballots held during board meetings. At the guild’s election meeting in the fall, a board formator (who is usually the same person as the next chair) is first elected to present a proposal for the board. If this proposal is approved, the proposed individuals become the guild’s next board. If the proposal is rejected, the board formator proposes a new board composition. ==== Chair ==== The Chairperson serves as the leader of the Board and the guild, ensuring that the guild’s operations run as smoothly as possible, that the guild is able to provide services and events to its members, and that the interests of its members are safeguarded. In practice, the Chair drafts the agendas for Board meetings, convenes those meetings, and, as the title implies, presides over them. In addition, the chair oversees the work of other board members and officers and, when necessary, allocates resources among the board members to ensure that all responsibilities are fulfilled. It is important to ensure that traditional matters and those required by the guild’s rules are handled in a timely manner, so the Chair also keeps the guild’s annual schedule in mind. The position also involves various representative duties as well as maintaining contact with the university, the ITC Faculty, the Student Union, Tampere Teekkarit, and sister guilds. In this capacity, the president serves on the Tampere Teekkarit Guild Council, where the presidents of all Tampere engineering guilds meet to discuss matters of common interest, exchange ideas for activities, and organize joint events. Often, the chairs plan and implement improvements to the guild’s operations based on their own ideas or those of the members. ==== Vice Chair ==== The role of the Vice Chair on the Board is to fulfill the Chair’s duties when the Chair is unable to do so. The Vice Chair of TiTe is responsible for leading committee activities, organizing Board retreats, and assisting the Chair with administrative matters. The Chair and Vice Chair work closely together and may mutually agree on the division of responsibilities. ==== Secretary ==== The Secretary records the discussions and decisions made during meetings and compiles them into minutes. The completed minutes are archived in the guild’s archives, and copies are submitted to the student union’s archives. In addition, the secretary publishes lists of decisions from the meetings on the guild’s website. The secretary’s duties also include, for example, updating the TiTe wiki. ==== Corporate Relations Officer ==== As the title suggests, the Corporate Relations Officer is responsible for the guild’s corporate partnership activities. In practice, this means establishing and maintaining contacts with companies and entering into partnership agreements with them. Communication takes place mainly via email and phone, but sometimes the Corporate Relations Officer also visits companies in person. In addition to signing cooperation agreements, the Corporate Relations Officer is responsible for ensuring that the terms of the agreements are implemented in the guild’s operations. For example, forwarding company announcements to members is part of the corporate liaison’s job description. Alongside the contracting party, the corporate liaison also plans, prepares, and executes the IT-Hekuma fair with the assistance of the corporate liaison assistant. Many companies today want to be visible in student activities in ways other than just at fairs and through email lists, so the corporate liaison has the opportunity to brainstorm and implement other types of activities with companies. ==== Communications Officer ==== The Communications Officer is responsible for all of the guild’s communication channels, which include the guild’s website, email lists, Telegram, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. Decisions are communicated through these channels. The Communications Officer plans the guild’s overall communications strategy and supports other board members in carrying out communications activities. The role also includes compiling a weekly newsletter. The Communications Officer is also responsible for moderating the email lists. Generally speaking, this means reading messages and approving emails that are appropriate for the lists. ==== Übertutor ==== The Übertutor, together with the Fuksi Captains, forms the guild’s Fuksi Team and is responsible for the guild’s fuksi activities. The Fuksi team organizes a wide variety of freshman events, ranging from the headstart to the dipping sauna. The Übertutor also has responsibilities outside of these events, such as advising fuksis and stamping their fuksipasses. Another important aspect of the Übertutor's role is serving on the Fuksi Council, which consists of the fukjsi captains from all guilds, as well as the Hovi, which consists of the tutor representatives from the entire school. ==== Event Coordinator ==== The Event Coordinator organizes TiTe’s traditional events together with their assistants and the event committee they lead. In the fall, the Event Coordinator organizes the fantastic Senssibileet and raffle sitsit, and in the spring, events such as the pre-colors sitsit. As Event Coordinator, you’ll get to come up with and implement many other ideas as well, such as joint events with other student guilds. The workload for this position is concentrated around the events being organized, but the rest of the time is spent planning them. If you’ve always been interested in throwing the world’s best parties, this role is for you! ==== Treasurer ==== The treasurer pays the guild’s bills, invoices other parties, and handles the guild’s bookkeeping. In addition, the role includes reviewing budgets, paying expense reimbursements, and generally monitoring financial transactions. The Treasurer leads the Investment Committee and represents the guild on the Finance Committee. The Treasurer’s responsibilities are wide-ranging and may require prior experience. ==== Education Policy Officer ==== The Education Policy Officer (later referred to as the “Kopo Officer”) is responsible for overseeing the guild’s education policy and, in that capacity, safeguards the interests of the membership. The Officer listens to members’ opinions and concerns regarding educational matters and, when necessary, advocates for their interests with higher authorities. They also keep their eyes and ears open regarding events at the school and planned reforms, and speak out against any shortcomings when necessary. The Student Affairs Representative represents TiTe, for example, at meetings with faculty staff and at meetings of TREY’s student affairs representatives. ==== International Affairs Officer ==== The duties of the International Affairs Officer include inviting international students to the guild’s events, brainstorming and organizing events that bring together Finnish and international students, and promoting international engagement among Finnish students, especially freshmen. In addition, the International Affairs Coordinator primarily maintains relationships with international student associations on campus. An important part of the International Affairs Officer’s role is to try to integrate both students studying information technology (degree students who are completing their entire degree in Finland) and, more broadly, all international students interested in TiTe’s activities into our guild’s day-to-day operations. Promoting integration is challenging in many ways, but the International Affairs Coordinator has considerable freedom in carrying out their duties. A strong command of English is highly desirable for this position. ==== Equality Officer ==== The guild’s Equality Officer develops and promotes equality within the guild. The Equality Officer is responsible for handling cases of harassment. The role may include, among other things, implementing and updating the guild’s equality plan, promoting equality at the guild’s events and in its activities, conducting an equality survey, drafting guidelines, organizing training sessions for the board and members, and, if necessary, referring equality-related matters to the Student Union, for example. For the year 2026, the role of equality officer was incorporated into the regular board. ==== Host/Hostess ==== The host/hostess takes a firm hand in organizing the guild’s sauna evenings. Other duties include, for example, organizing the guild’s summer gathering and providing coffee and pastries at general meetings. The Teekkarisauna Mörrimöykky is usually reserved for sauna nights. Once there, the host/hostess ensures that the sauna and hot tub are warm and that there is plenty of food and drink available.
